British Israelism

The Gothic novel Encore: A Contemporary Love Story of Hypnotic Abduction takes place in England and the Nevermind Intelligence Agents encourage cultish belief in British Israelism -- a worldview that became popular with well-to-do people in England, particularly the military and clergy, that spread to the US, becoming more extremist with Christian Identity proponents and a significant number of Pentacostal leaders like Parham, Sandford and J.H. Allen though certainly not the majority of charismatic worshippers. British Israelism is connected with the belief that the Royal Family are descended from King David, and in some factions, that British land is ancient Atlantis, that the Brits encoded the Egyptian pyramids, and that King Arthur was even involved: some say Joseph of Arimathea, Arthur's ancestor, settled Glastonbury and stuck his staff into the ground. The Tudor royal family claimed to descend from King Arthur and David. King Henry VIII used this idea to deny the Vatican’s authority over England, claiming he and his descendants had the divine right of rule; the Holy Roman Empire was the Antichrist system defeated by Christ restoring the British Empire, the Kingdom of God on Earth. It's not as fringe a believe as many might imagine but has been quite influential and still has many adherents.

Encore is the third book in the Agents of the Nevermind series exploring social engineering by intelligence agents with tools such as religious and New Age persuasion; I use fiction to explore real-life history and current events. British Israelism is a belief created as a psyop by intelligence that disempowered the United States and other lands that they controlled. The foundation is that Anglo-Saxon-Celts are the supposed to be the lost tribes of Israel (Christ “was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel” Matt. 15:24) descended from King David. The lost tribes never returned to their Middle Eastern homeland after the Assyrian exile in the eighth century, BC. They traced the migration of the Israelites from exile in Assyria as they supposedly went through the Caucasus Passage to northern Europe and the British Isles. They believe the promise to Joseph’s descendants apply specifically therefore to the UK. It follows that a British Empire should dominate the Earth in the prophesied End Times. The propaganda began in Elizabethan times when Walsingham created Britain's intelligence agency when the Rosicrucian John Dee, who believed the British were the true Jews beloved of Yahweh, convinced the Queen to instigate the maritime empire complete with a fleet of ships going off to colonies -- he called America New Atlantis, and the pirate Sir Francis Drake referred to the British empire as Israel or the New Jerusalem. Dee was the Queen right-hand occultist, a magician, astrologer, mathematician and psychic spy who teamed up with con artist/alchemist Edward Kelley when together they created the Enochian language (spy code) ostensibly as a way to contact Enochian angels who were there to help foster the empire and move toward a kinder and gentler Apocalypse. Belief in Revelation's immanent apocalypse urged Dee, Francis Bacon and Isaac Newton toward what they saw as their promised future. Leaders such as Dee, Sir Walter Raleigh and Edmond Spencer (The Faerie Queen) interpreted Arthurian-Britain/Israel through the Cabala with the Queen playing a magical role. The ridiculous historian Geoffrey of Monmouth was their go-to guy, who said when the Tudors filled the throne, the Trojan-British race would usher in utopia.

Francis Bacon, the founder of the modern scientific method, which arose from alchemy, wrote a Rosicrucian book called The New Atlantis about England as the spot for the rebuilding of Solomon's Temple, which the Bible said would occur after the fruition of the empire, leading to the Apocalypse and subsequent reign of the Lord in the New Jerusalem according to Solomon's laws. Others believed the Brits should rebuild Solomon's Temple in Palestine. These historical figures all play roles in Encore. At that time, a psychological operation by an intelligent agent in Venice, Paolo Sarpi, birthed British Israelism and other religious cults, perhaps as a way to cause strife in Europe, keeping people superstitious, dumbed down, easy to rile up and control through legends and supernatural promises. Oliver Cromwell, John Milton, John Locke, Sir Isaac Newton, Rosicrucians and others focused on this idea of the Israeli holders of arcane secrets of physical and esoteric empire building through methods that joined the occult, science, propagandistic mind control and military strategy. British Israelism developed over the years and in the 1800s arising out of the Church of England, became increasingly virulent and influential. Edward Hine wrote Identification of the British Nation with Lost Israel and Charles Totten wrote Our Race, Our Origins and its Destiny and John Wilson’s Our Israelitish Origin. The superior God-chosen Ten Tribes of Israel had theoretically migrated to England, Germany and Scandanavia and the flawed tribes of Judah had remained in Palestine. However, once the British royals no longer aligned themselves with Germany, the belief in the migration of course had to be adjusted. After that, the Germans were, it turned out, actually not the chosen ones after all but descended from the Assyrians.

The British empire became Zionist with the paradoxical goal of creating and ruling a Jewish paradise in Palestine, after the required bloodshed of course. Everyone got on board from the Freemasons to the Rothschilds, Theosophy, Thule Society, Aleister Crowley. J.H. Allen penned Judah’s Scepter and Joseph’s Birthright. The Abrahamic Covenant was revised to include Christians as inheritors of Yahweh's grace, chosen to create a "New World Order" from Jerusalem. British Rosicrucians like the White Supremacist Cecil Rhodes planned to make America an extension of their society to make the Anglo-Saxon "race" a powerful empire. In the 1900s, the British Israelites consolidated as the British Israel World Federation and radio evangelist Herbert Armstrong of the Worldwide Church of God became popular. The Brits captured Palestine and with the Balfour Declaration vowed to create a homeland for Jewish people, in spite of the fact that the people behind this movement were anti-Semites: their interest was not necessarily the well-being of the Jews but of furthering the goal we saw with Encochian magic -- bringing about the fiery end of the tainted world. The Lost Israel Identification Society of Brooklyn began.

Major powers have a knack for using legends to create military alliances with other countries - like the US. British evangelical preachers fired up North American Fundamentalist and Evangelical congregations such as those that speak in tongues (glossolalia). This is why in book one in the series, the deacon in the church that practiced glossolalia interjected Enochian code words amongst the utterances. Enochian language is sometimes used by secret societies that promote bringing about the End of the World battle. The KKK and Neo-Nazis combined forces via people like Reverend Wesley Swift (Identity Church of Jesus Christ Christian), who spoke about Atlantis and Lemuruia, Gerald Smith, who was one of American Nazi presidential candidate William Pelley's Silver Shirts, and Howard Rand, who said Jesus was not a Jew but an Aryan ancestor of Scandanavian, German, and British peoples. KKK leader Pastor Reuben Sawyer fostered the British Israel Federation. Adherents believe in a race war with Jews to fulfill the prophecy and bring about the End Times. In Israel, Brit Am is centered in Israel but believes Britain is the lost tribe. Pastor Arnold Murray states that the Aryan Israelites built the Egyptian pyramids embedded with meaningful secret codes. British Israelites see the pyramid of Giza as an extension of the Bible, modeling history from Creation and including the British Mandate in Palestine, with one inch equating to one month.

The Worldwide Church of Christ is one of many types of Christian Identity, a group which claims Jews were spawned by Satan and intersects heavily with Special Forces and military intelligence and was sometimes set up by the FBI to create acts of terrorism. Some of the many Christian Identity groups are Aryan Nations, Phineas Priesthood and Church of Israel. They see other ethnicities besides the Caucasian as without souls and engaged in a battle aligned with Satan who comes in a spaceship with attending aliens. Glen Beck, who has a show with fringe popularity, believes the the US Constitution is a copy of Anglo-Saxon law which copied the Old Testament law. Zionist neoconservatives aligned themselves with the Christian Right against communism.

Christian Identity members believe in the Second Coming and Armageddon, a race war, disease coming from touch people of mixed race, the value of killing homosexuals and abortion doctors.

Christian Identity folks like the Rosicrucian Edgar Cayce, who predicted the rising of Atlantis heralding a utopia. Cayce spoke in trance about the pyramid, giants, and so forth. The Agents of the Nevermind books deal with the British Israelite legend of giants such as how Brutus expelled giants from Britain who were refugees from Assyria who went from Britain to Holland, married Saxons and invaded Britain. Pseudo-historian Goeffrey of Monmouth wrote that Brutus discovered giants in Cornwall, which had contact with Phoenician-Israelite. I enjoy delving deeply into history and current events in the Nevermind books and setting Encore: A Contemporary Love Story of Hypnotic Abduction in England, with the Agents networking with the US, this was a natural direction to explore. Dune whisks Miriam away to a castle which has paintings of Dee, Bacon, Walsingham and others, including the alchemist and his assistant who usually live at the castle but who are "vacationing."
